• General Guidelines – Part 2
    • Each application is graded on a 100-point graded scale
    • The graded areas are shown on the application with a % sign
    • A Scoring Matrix will be used to evaluate each scholarship application by award area.
    • Pay close attention to your application guidelines as they are different for each area. Be sure to fill out all areas and check boxes as they apply to you.
    • Causes for rejection of application are as follows:
      • Late submission (past the due date)
      • Submitting more than one application
      • Submitting false information
      • Not signed by Mr. Ben Cox
      • Application incomplete
    • For 2026, the Fine Arts award is $4,000
    • All students are required to have a letter of recommendation to submit with application.
    • Scholarship winners will be determined by the Memorial Scholarship Committee and there is no appeal.
    • Award winners will be announced at the annual awards assembly in May 2026.
    • Award winners will also be recognized in local newspapers.
    • If you are selected as an award winner, you will be issued a check from DMS Scholarship WHEN you can show proof of enrollment at the college/university you are attending.
  • Scholarship Dates
    • The opening date to apply is 2-20-2026
    • The closing date is 3-20-2026 – any applications received after this date will be rejected
    • Final selection will be completed by 4-3-2026
  • Award Specific Instructions: If applying for Fine Arts scholarship, you will also need to submit a picture of an original piece of artwork (painting, sculpture, mixed medium, photography, etc.) that has verified and signed by Mr. Allred, NHS Art Teacher. This is in addition to your completed and signed application.
  • Award Restrictions & Allowances
    • Scholarship winners in each area will receive partial funding of their full award at the beginning of each semester when they show proof of enrollment (class schedule, enrollment documentation).
    • Scholarship winners who cannot show proof of enrollment will be denied funding.
    • Scholarship winners who indicate on their application that they either intend to work up to a year or to go on an LDS mission, will have their funds deposited into a deferred account until such time as they have stopped working or returned from their mission. Then they will contact the Scholarship board for further instructions.
    • If you win this scholarship and then change to a major/specialized major outside of your area on the application, your award will be reduced.
